About

“Djar” is Maltese for houses.

This site is about everything one takes — the money, the paperwork, the work itself, and everything that goes inside it.

01

Why it exists

Buying, renovating or fitting out a home in Malta means finding a dozen different suppliers, and there is no obvious place to start. Which banks lend on a property that still needs finishing? Who fits apertures? Where do you go for tiles, or a kitchen, or someone to actually rewire the place?

The answers exist, scattered across word of mouth and Facebook groups. The directory is our attempt at collecting them in one place, arranged in the order you actually need them: money and paperwork, then the building work, then fitting out, then living in it.

02

And the property itself

You can also browse property for sale and to rent across Malta, Gozo and Comino, and contact the advertiser directly without creating an account. Anyone with a property can list it themselves in a few minutes.

Every lister is asked whether they own the property, and listings marked “listed by owner” carry that badge. When you deal with an owner directly there is no agency fee on either side of the conversation.

03

How the directory is put together

By hand. Businesses do not register themselves and nobody buys a place in it, so an entry appearing here is not an advert and its position is not for sale. The flip side is that it is only as complete as we have managed to make it — if something obvious is missing, tell us.

Details are taken from what each business publishes about itself, or from an authoritative register. Where a business does not publish something, we leave the field blank rather than guess: an entry with a wrong phone number is worse than an entry with none.

04

What we are not

We are not an estate agency. We do not represent buyers, sellers, landlords or tenants, we take no commission, and we are not a party to any sale, lease or job agreed between you and anyone listed here.

We list businesses as a convenience. We are not connected to them and cannot vouch for the work — get your own quotes and check credentials before committing to anything. Listings are written by the people who post them, so always view a property and verify the details.
